Overview
Welding Instructor needed to teach contract in Miramar, CA correctional facility, where you will play a vital role in equipping incarcerated individuals with valuable welding skills that can transform their futures. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to deliver hands-on instruction, foster skill development, and promote positive change through education.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive welding instruction covering various techniques such as arc welding, MIG, TIG, and stick welding in accordance with industry standards.
- Develop and update curriculum materials that align with current manufacturing, construction, and automotive repair practices.
- Supervise practical welding exercises to ensure safety protocols are strictly followed, including OSHA standards.
- Assess student progress through evaluations, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, skill assessments, and certification progress for each participant.
- Promote a safe learning environment by enforcing safety procedures related to mechanical knowledge, electrical experience, HVAC/R systems, plumbing, and aircraft maintenance.
- Collaborate with facility staff to coordinate training schedules and integrate relevant skills such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and curriculum development strategies.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of welding techniques including arc welding, MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Strong mechanical knowledge applicable to manufacturing, construction, automotive diagnostics, HVAC/R systems, plumbing, electrical work, and aircraft maintenance.
- Experience in adult education with the ability to teach diverse learners effectively in a classroom or hands-on setting.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and best practices for industrial environments.
- Ability to develop engaging curricula that incorporate modern tools such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and Blackboard platforms.
- Practical experience in automotive repair and diagnostics enhances instructional versatility.
- Excellent classroom management skills combined with a passion for mentoring individuals toward productive careers.
