Overview

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is looking for Welding Inspectors in multiple locations throughout the USA. The work is on an as-needed basis and involves ensuring compliance with welding codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspections to ensure welds and welding processes comply with codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
• Witness and verify non-destructive tests and their reports.
• Monitor welding parameters and inspect materials and equipment.
• Review quality documents including WPS/PQR and issue reports or recommendations for corrective actions.
• Verify that welders are qualified and that welding procedures and specifications are followed correctly.
• Ensure all welding activities adhere to relevant industry codes and contractual requirements.
• Conduct pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections to identify defects.
• Perform visual inspections of welded joints, checking dimensions, penetration, and bead formation.
• Witness non-destructive testing (NDT) and interpret/verify results.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection results, including any issues found.

Requirements

• Must have at least one of the following: AWS, CWI, CSWIP, API.
• Minimum of five years industrial welding-related inspection experience, with two years in Quality Assurance/vendor surveillance/shop inspections.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of industry experience, mainly in Oil and Gas.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of welding inspections.
• Welding inspection experience at manufacturer shops/facilities is required.
• Experience with Pipeline, Equipment such as Pressure vessels, Heat exchangers, and Pumps is an asset.

Additional Information

• Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 to 10 hours per day.
• Hourly rate is $40 to $45/hr plus $0.70/km.
• Per diem may be considered if the inspection site is beyond a round trip of 200 miles from the inspector's residence.
• The inspector will sign an independent contractor agreement/sub-contractor agreement (1099) with SGS North America Inc.
