Overview
The Welder is responsible for production welding a variety of assemblies, as well as the setup, operation, and light maintenance of production equipment.
Responsibilities
- Work from instructions and prints to arrange parts into welding fixtures and tack weld or apply finished weld.
- Select proper equipment and set voltage and wire feed settings for strength and appearance.
- Safely operate forklift to load and unload raw material and completed parts.
- Handle assorted raw materials, steel parts, and steel scrap.
- Maintain work area and production equipment in clean and orderly condition while following safety work rules.
- Perform work to ensure all products conform to prescribed quality standards.
- Conduct incoming inspection, sorting, and receiving of bar stock, pipe, rod material, and welding supplies.
- Perform light maintenance on plant equipment as needed.
- Use and understand online ERP system for data collection and work instructions.
- Operate small electric/air hand tools.
- Cross-train and operate production equipment such as welding robot, press brake, and spot welder as needed.
- Participate in and support continuous process improvements.
- Other duties may be assigned that pertain to the classification.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years welding experience.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate welding and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as welding blueprints.
- Proficient with mathematical calculations and use of measuring devices.
