Job Description

Overview

The Welder is responsible for production welding a variety of assemblies, as well as the setup, operation, and light maintenance of production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Work from instructions and prints to arrange parts into welding fixtures and tack weld or apply finished weld.
  • Select proper equipment and set voltage and wire feed settings for strength and appearance.
  • Safely operate forklift to load and unload raw material and completed parts.
  • Handle assorted raw materials, steel parts, and steel scrap.
  • Maintain work area and production equipment in clean and orderly condition while following safety work rules.
  • Perform work to ensure all products conform to prescribed quality standards.
  • Conduct incoming inspection, sorting, and receiving of bar stock, pipe, rod material, and welding supplies.
  • Perform light maintenance on plant equipment as needed.
  • Use and understand online ERP system for data collection and work instructions.
  • Operate small electric/air hand tools.
  • Cross-train and operate production equipment such as welding robot, press brake, and spot welder as needed.
  • Participate in and support continuous process improvements.
  • Other duties may be assigned that pertain to the classification.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years welding experience.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as welding blueprints.
  • Proficient with mathematical calculations and use of measuring devices.
