Overview
The Pipefitter is a skilled tradesman responsible for developing, laying out, fitting, bolting up, assembling, and installing piping systems as part of ship construction, alteration, and repair. This role requires reading blueprints and performing welding operations, while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and optimal performance of piping systems.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble piping systems.
- Perform welding operations including Steel / Wire / MIG/ TIG & stick welding.
- Fit, assemble, and install pipe systems using hand tools and power tools.
- Measure materials accurately using calipers and other measurement tools.
- Rig and lift heavy pipe sections or equipment safely.
- Troubleshoot issues with piping systems and perform routine maintenance.
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to OSHA regulations.
Requirements
- Requires 3+ years' shipyard experience as a Pipefitter.
- Proficiency in Steel / Wire / MIG/ TIG & stick welding.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, ASME codes & standards.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and pipe threading machines efficiently.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, plumbing installations, and maintenance procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Construction site experience preferred; ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Valid certifications in welding or pipefitting are advantageous.

- Pay: $25.00 - $31.00 per hour
