Overview

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is seeking Welding Inspectors for contract work in multiple locations throughout the USA. The role involves ensuring compliance with welding standards and performing inspections on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

• Ensure welds and welding processes comply with codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
• Perform visual inspections and witness non-destructive tests and their reports.
• Monitor welding parameters and inspect materials and equipment.
• Review quality documents including WPS/PQR and issue reports or recommendations for corrective actions.
• Verify that welders are qualified and that welding procedures and specifications are followed correctly.
• Ensure all welding activities adhere to relevant industry codes and contractual requirements.
• Perform pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections to identify defects.
• Conduct visual inspections of welded joints, checking dimensions, penetration, and bead formation.
• Witness non-destructive testing and interpret/verify results.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection results, including any issues found.

Requirements

• Must have at least one of the following: AWS, CWI, CSWIP, API.
• Minimum of five years industrial welding-related inspection experience.
• Two of these years should be in Quality Assurance, vendor surveillance, or shop inspections.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of industry experience, mainly in Oil and Gas.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of welding inspections.
• Welding inspection experience at manufacturer shops/facilities is required.
• Experience with Pipeline, Equipment such as Pressure vessels, Heat exchangers, and Pumps is an asset.

Additional Information

• Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 to 10 hours per day.
• Hourly rate is $40 to $45 per hour plus $0.70 per kilometer.
• Per diem may be considered if the inspection site is beyond a round trip of 200 miles from the inspector's residence.
