Overview

SpaceX is focused on developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Launch Engineer for Fluid Systems will work in a fast-paced environment, designing and maintaining fluid systems for rocket launches.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, and build systems that support critical rocket launches and testing.
  • Own projects from design reviews to equipment procurement and construction coordination.
  • Design modular hardware for future launch sites.
  • Apply interdisciplinary engineering skills in various fields.
  • Collaborate with technicians to build designs and solve real-world problems.
  • Maintain feedback with the launch operations team to meet deadlines.
  • Activate and troubleshoot equipment to achieve design objectives.
  • Evaluate complex problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Engage in hands-on field projects to support rocket launches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of hands-on build or design experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with quick thinking and problem-solving in stressful situations.
  • Strong intuition of fluid and/or structural/mechanical systems.
  • General hands-on experience with machining, welding, and fabrication techniques.
  • Experience with instrumentation, testing, and data analysis.
  • 3+ years of mechanical, fluids, or thermal design experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with high-pressure and cryogenic fluid systems.
  • Intermediate skill level using CAD.

  • Ability to respond to emergencies and support priority projects.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work in extreme outdoor environments.
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 25 lbs. unassisted and working at heights up to 500 ft.
