Overview
The Pipefitter Mechanical Commercial HVAC position requires significant experience in commercial HVAC construction, specifically in running copper pipe. The company is a local Texas firm focused on building strong relationships with clients and candidates, emphasizing shared values and commitment.
Responsibilities
- Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications.
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies using various welding equipment.
- Cuts workpiece using power saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
- Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or extrude melted scrap.
- Installs or repairs equipment such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings.
- Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
- Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances using precision measuring instruments.
- Removes rough spots from workpiece using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
- Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
- Determines required equipment and welding method and techniques.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of copper pipe fitting welding experience in a commercial HVAC construction setting.
- High school diploma or technical school education.
- Experience with equipment selection, quality control analysis, equipment maintenance, repairing, and installation.
- Must have a clean criminal background for high-security projects.
- Significant experience running commercial HVAC pipe, including copper pipe.
