Job Description

Overview

The Industrial Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on production equipment and machinery in a manufacturing plant. This role requires adherence to safety policies and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues to ensure efficient production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all work instructions and safety policies, including use of all PPE and safety equipment.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance checks on all production equipment and machinery.
  • Repairs basic mechanical components and replaces parts on machines such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, gauges, and switches.
  • Observes and listens to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of problems.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Lubricates and cleans machinery and support equipment to maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance standards.
  • Accomplishes all work orders to maintain safety, reduce downtime, decrease scrap, improve quality production, and improve plant efficiency.
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures including Lockout/Tagout program and observes operations to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment failures to determine root cause and initiate appropriate remedial action.
  • Repairs equipment to improve availability and reliability for production.
  • Collects and analyzes work delay codes to identify challenges to timely completion of scheduled jobs.
  • Ensures preventative maintenance compliance and that repair history is properly documented.
  • Assists in sourcing and requisitioning maintenance supplies, equipment, and services within budgeted guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of work experience in a manufacturing plant as a Maintenance Mechanic or Technician.
  • Knowledge and experience working with high-speed equipment and electric-pneumatic controls.
  • Able to use both a MIG welder and an ARC welder.
  • Able to order parts and maintain inventory of all maintenance-related material.
  • Advanced working knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems and components.
  • Working knowledge and experience on Automation; Industrial Process and Control system; PLC; Measuring Devices; Instrumentation; Robotic Application; Bulk Handling System.
  • Working knowledge and experience on Facility Maintenance and Plant Equipment.
  • Planning, scheduling, and assigning ability while well experienced in defining priorities, required skills, and resources.
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with lots of changes in direction based on business requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other departments.
