Job Description

Overview

The Pipe Welder position involves TIG welding stainless steel pipes to fabricate pipe spools and metal hoses in a high-volume, fast-paced shop environment. The role requires extensive experience in welding and offers opportunities for overtime and benefits in a stable industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel pipe to fabricate pipe spools and metal hoses.
  • Work primarily with stainless steel piping ranging from 3/4" to 8" OD, focusing on 1.5" to 4" OD in schedule 10 and schedule 40.
  • Weld both stainless steel and carbon steel pipe, with approximately 90% of work on stainless and 10% on carbon steel.
  • Read and follow fabrication requirements to ensure accurate pipe spool and hose construction.
  • Maintain consistent weld quality and appearance in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
  • Fit pipe components as needed to prepare assemblies for welding.
  • Use appropriate welding processes, including TIG and other methods where required, to complete assigned work.
  • Work continuously and efficiently to meet production goals and support on-time delivery of projects.
  • Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of pipe welding experience.
  • Proficiency in TIG welding (GTAW) on stainless steel pipe.
  • Ability to weld stainless steel pipe to a high standard of quality.
  • Experience welding pipe in various sizes, including 3/4" to 8" OD, with a focus on 1.5" to 4" OD.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume fabrication environment.
  • Capacity to work extended hours as needed to support production demands.

Additional Information

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77044.
  • Standard hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with Saturdays as needed.
  • Current workloads often require 50-60 hours per week, occasionally shifting to 6:00 a.m. to 5:00/6:00 p.m.
  • This is a fully onsite position.
