Overview

Northern Star Resources Limited is an Australian ASX 100 gold producer with three Tier-1 projects in low sovereign risk regions. Due to growth, they are seeking an experienced Fabricator/Welder for their Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance team in the repair and maintenance of mobile equipment.
  • Perform a high standard of fabrication and welding execution.
  • Provide technical advice and support to fellow Maintenance Team members.
  • Ensure workmanship meets standards, tolerances, and testing of equipment.
  • Ensure effective communication and handover between crews regarding maintenance plans.
  • Identify correct parts and equipment for planned and unplanned jobs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Continuously review scheduled jobs for improvement opportunities.
  • Highlight equipment defects using the maintenance management process.
  • Manage costs to avoid rework and unnecessary use of parts.
  • Undertake safety-related activities in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in work areas.

Requirements

  • Fabrication/welding certification.
  • Minimum 5 years practical experience as a fabricator/welder, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Experience in line-boring and machining is highly desired.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Candidates living in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Delta and Tok regions will be given first consideration.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Experience with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
  • Ability to pass a background check and post-offer physical.

Additional Information

  • Working a 3 week on, 3 week off schedule of rotating days and nights, 12 hours a day or more.
  • Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation.
  • Camp facilities include dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms.
  • Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV.
  • Cell service is available through Wi-Fi.
  • The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
