Overview

Metals USA - Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator in Torrington, CT. This company is a growth-oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace, and fabrication industries.

Responsibilities

• Sets up metal fabricating support equipment such as Pemsert, DA grinders, and Timesaver as needed.
• Operates fabrication equipment using MIG and TIG welding machinery.
• Uses a variety of hand tools as required.
• Inspects and tests welds and equipment constantly.
• Checks for durability as well as meeting specified standards.
• Fabricates and assembles parts to industrial customer specifications ensuring quality products.
• Applies knowledge of assembly to perform sheet metal fabrication.
• Deburrs, sands, and polishes finished materials.
• Completes production paperwork and follows shop systems/procedures.
• Inspects and measures finished products to determine if the process was completed properly.
• Performs daily maintenance and inspection of equipment to ensure functionality.

Requirements

• Two-year technical degree and/or apprenticeship in sheet metal fabrication or welding.
• Prior experience with all types of welding including MIG and TIG.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, documents, and blueprints.
• Ability to read measuring instruments such as measuring tapes, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges.
• Computer literacy with understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.
