Overview

Vulcan Materials Company is the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates and a major producer of aggregates-based construction materials. The Field Welder position involves extensive travel, prioritizing safety, and performing welding and fabrication tasks to support construction and repair jobs.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety for yourself and others in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Travel extensively across the state of Alabama and potentially to other states.
• Inspect and diagnose repair and maintenance of mobile and plant equipment.
• Plan, organize, weld, fit, and layout construction and repair jobs from blueprints.
• Fabricate structural components according to company standards.
• Perform stick and dual shield welding in various positions.
• Cut materials using air arcs, burning rods, and acetylene/oxygen cutting torches.
• Perform welding repair and maintenance on production-related equipment and structures.
• Engage in physical activities such as climbing, lifting, and handling materials.
• Problem solve and make independent decisions regarding weld draws and fabrication issues.
• Provide leadership and coaching to other team members.

Requirements

• 15 years of fabrication experience.
• Welding experience including brazing, welding, arc welding, and cutting tasks.
• Extensive knowledge of fitting, welding, and fabrication finishing accuracy.
• Willingness to work overtime and extended hours based on demands.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and tolerate loud noises.
