Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations using SMAW, MIG, TIG, and/or FCAW processes as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
- Fabricate and assemble metal structures and components according to specifications.
- Ensure welds meet quality standards and pass required inspections, including AWS D1.1 standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent hazards.
- Participate in safety meetings and report unsafe conditions.
- Conduct visual inspections of welds and perform necessary repairs.
- Work with quality assurance personnel to ensure compliance with welding codes.
- Maintain welding logs and documentation as required.
- Assist in preparing materials for third-party inspections and testing.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on welding machines.
- Report equipment malfunctions and request repairs or replacements.
- Coordinate with foremen, engineers, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow.
- Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials for welding.
- Communicate with and take direction from assigned Project/Crew management.
- Use project prints, drawings and design layouts to install perimeter security components.
- Prepare layout area where construction will take place using measuring tools.
- Serve as task lead as assigned and directed by crew superintendent or foreman.
- Assist in teaching and training other crew labor as directed and necessary.
Requirements
- Cooperate with other team members.
- Willingness and ability to travel 100% of the time.
- Valid welding certification from AWS required or obtainable within a specified timeframe.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1–3 years of welding experience in construction or industrial settings.
- Proficiency in multiple welding techniques and processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and in various weather conditions.
- Forklift or aerial lift certification preferred.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at times.
- Exposure to heat, noise, and potentially hazardous materials.
- May require overtime, weekend, or night shifts depending on project needs.
- Must be able to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
