Overview
The Welding Technician-HCC is responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks safely while adhering to company safety policies. The role involves collaborating with various departments, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a clean work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties safely according to company safety policies and procedures.
- Wear appropriate PPE for all tasks that require them.
- Work with Safety Committee personnel to identify and eliminate safety hazards.
- Support the 5S Housekeeping program and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Safely and accurately weld/fabricate sheet metal assemblies, fixtures, and parts.
- Set up equipment as required.
- Perform authorized inspections to prevent hazards and ensure correct operation.
- Maintain all tools and equipment safely and report any items needing replacement or rework.
- Collaborate with Engineering & Design on fabrication of parts or assemblies.
- Suggest improvements for processes or designs of sheet metal assemblies or parts.
- Ensure only authorized personnel utilize equipment.
- Keep the welding area clean, tidy, and organized.
- Use a forklift to pick up heavy objects; forklift certification is required.
- Support operations and other departments to meet company objectives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- 5-10 years of experience in welding or sheet metal fabrication is required.
- Experience in running various types of welding equipment on different materials is required.
- Experience with multiple welding processes is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or drawings is required.
- Accurate use of tape measures, calipers, micrometers, angle finders, levels, and squares is required.
- Possess interpersonal skills to interface with employees and contractors.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English and follow directions is required.
- Must possess the mental and physical capacities necessary to perform job duties.
