Job Description

Overview

The Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for reading blueprints and fabricating metal components according to specifications. They ensure accuracy in measurements and the quality of the finished products.

Responsibilities

  • Select, transport, and handle sheets of metal, ensuring they meet specifications.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, or work orders to understand product specifications.
  • Use cutting tools to trim and shape metal sheets according to design requirements.
  • Operate machinery to bend, fold, or form metal sheets into desired shapes.
  • Use punch presses or stamping machines to create openings in metal sheets.
  • Weld or join metal pieces together using various welding techniques.
  • Smooth and finish metal surfaces using grinders and deburring tools.
  • Assemble fabricated metal components into finished products or structures.
  • Inspect fabricated pieces to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions during fabrication.
  • Minimize waste by efficiently arranging and cutting metal sheets.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines when operating machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on fabrication equipment.
  • Maintain records of materials used and work performed.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may arise during fabrication.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to complete projects efficiently.
  • Stay current with industry trends and teach others what you have learned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a fabrication environment.
  • Experience working with sheet metal preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to solve basic mathematical problems.
  • Working knowledge of geometry is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working around machinery.
  • Must be committed to following all safety requirements.
  • Adheres to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Familiarity working with sheet metal tools including hand seamers and snips.
  • Willingness and ability to teach others.

Additional Information

  • Must pass background screen, drug test, and motor vehicle records check.
  • Generally, Monday through Friday 6:30AM to 3PM. Additional hours may be required during peak times.
  • Remote Work Eligibility: Not Eligible.
