Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our maintenance and fabrication team at a fast-paced scrap metal recycling facility. This position plays a key role in keeping our processing equipment, containers, and structures safe and operational in a heavy industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding repairs and fabrications on scrap processing equipment such as conveyors, hoppers, chutes, shredders, balers and structural steel.
- Repair and fabricate roll-off containers, bins and steel components.
- Cut, fit and weld steel using stick (SMAW), MIG, or flux-core processes.
- Use oxy-fuel torch, plasma cutter and carbon arc gouging as needed.
- Assist maintenance crews during equipment shutdowns and emergency breakdowns.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in safe working condition.
- Follow all safety procedures including hot work permits, lockout/tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
- Work overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays when required by production needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2-5 years of welding experience in an industrial or structural environment.
- Proficiency in stick welding; MIG and flux-core experience preferred.
- Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
- Experience welding carbon steel; AR plate experience a plus.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to work independently.
