Overview
Join our dynamic construction team as a Welder Helper and play a vital role in supporting skilled welders on diverse fabrication and installation projects. This energetic position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, and construction processes while ensuring safety standards are maintained throughout each project phase.
Responsibilities
- Assist welders with setting up welding equipment and preparing work areas for MIG, FCAW, and on-site welding processes.
- Handle and organize materials such as sheet metal, pipe components, and ductwork for fabrication and installation.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment under supervision.
- Support rigging and crane operations to move heavy materials safely around the construction site.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand project specifications and assist with assembly tasks.
- Measure materials using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure accuracy in fabrication.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste materials properly.
- Follow safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to ASME codes & standards.
Requirements
- Prior experience working on construction sites or in manufacturing environments preferred.
- Basic knowledge of welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW; certification is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and plasma cutting equipment effectively.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication processes such as pipe threading, soldering, machining, and assembly.
- Understanding of safety practices on construction sites including rigging and crane operations.
- Strong basic math skills for measurements and calculations involved in fabrication tasks.
- Ability to operate forklifts or other material handling equipment is advantageous but not mandatory.
Additional Information
- Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour.
