Overview

Millerbernd Manufacturing is seeking a Submerged Arc Seam Welder 1 to join their Transportation & Infrastructure team. The role involves the set-up and operation of a submerged arc seam welding machine to weld pole shafts, ensuring quality and safety in the fabrication process.

Responsibilities

• Fuse stainless metal pole shafts using the Submerged Arc Welding process.
• Work from prints and drawings or other specifications.
• Set up work and determine operation sequences.
• Weld objects with critical safety and load requirements.
• Perform general maintenance of welding equipment.
• Make mathematical calculations for product preparation and machinery setup.
• Use hand tools and measuring devices during work.
• Move pole shafts using an overhead crane.
• Monitor production board and internal paperwork for task sequencing.
• Enter job data in the production tracking system.
• Achieve AWS SAW certification within 90 days.
• Ensure weld quality passes NDT examination.
• Escalate equipment or quality issues as necessary.

Requirements

• Experience with Stainless Steel TIG welding.
• Successful completion of AWS certified SAW within 90 days.
• Prefer graduation from an accredited trade school for welding.
• Ability to read and understand internal manufacturing paperwork in English.
• Proficient in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols.
• Working knowledge of weld setup parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
• Knowledge of welding properties of various metals.
• Ability to perform basic shop math functions.
• Ability to recognize and solve practical problems.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
