Overview
The Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. The role involves completing both small and large fabrications to specifications while complying with all MPI policies.
Responsibilities
- Read and comprehend product blueprints and layouts to accurately fit structural parts together in preparation for welding.
- Understand American Welding Society standard symbols.
- Plan details of work order procedures and gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications.
- Lay out guidelines or marks on metal parts and cut metal with a cutting torch.
- Repair and fabricate various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
- Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged.
- Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
- Weld metal structural components together in the fabrication of stainless steel, aluminum, and other structures.
- Perform first piece inspections and all subsequent inspections as required by RMF standards.
- Adjust welding equipment to its prescribed settings.
- Utilize safety devices and wear all mandatory personal protective safety equipment.
- Operate power tools.
Requirements
- Perform simple maintenance repairs as required.
- Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
- 1 year of relevant experience.
- Good understanding of basic mathematics.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to read measuring devices (Tape Measures).
- Ability to work alone with little to no direction.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
- Use proper personal protective equipment.
