Overview
Opus Water Inc. d.b.a. RP Adams is seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our manufacturing team in Tonawanda, NY. In this role, you will fabricate, assemble, install, and weld metal components according to layout plans and blueprints, and assemble and install pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
Responsibilities
- Weld metal parts together using gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes.
- Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase the size of metal parts.
- Position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
- Locate and mark bending and cutting lines onto work pieces.
- Operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
- Hammer, chip, and grind work pieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
- Preheat work pieces using hand torch or furnace.
- Design and construct templates and fixtures.
- Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications using square, ruler, and measuring tape.
- Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products.
- Set up and operate machine tools associated with fabricating shops, such as radial drill press, end mill, and edge planer.
- Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails using hand tools and power tools.
- Align machine components and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
- Assemble machine components and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures.
- Operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
- Cut, thread, bend, assemble, install, and connect a variety of metal and non-metal pipes, tubes, and fittings including iron, steel, copper, and plastic.
- Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools.
- Perform all other duties as required and maintain a clean work area.
Requirements
- Ability to pass Pulse MIG Hardwire, 2G ½" Thick Plate, TIG, and Small Diameter Pipe weld tests.
- Ability to pass weld certification on rare metals (Titanium, Copper-Nickel, Super Duplex).
- Ability to read blueprints.
