Overview

For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Shop Team Lead provides leadership, mentoring, and overall team oversight for the production operations team including welders, operators, laborers, production scheduling, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Interprets engineering specifications, prints, and job orders to workers and assigns jobs between areas.
• Assign personnel to efficiently produce items being built.
• Confer with supervisors and other leaders to coordinate operations and activities within or between shifts and other functional areas.
• Provides guidance and expert advice on technical, systems, or process-related topics.
• Enforces safety procedures and guidelines, and housekeeping practices.
• Identifies training needs, and conducts training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures.
• Observes technical performance of the area staff and provides on-the-spot guidance.
• Drives operational improvements and efficiencies to streamline the production process.
• Participates fully in quality initiatives and attends training and completes assessments as required.
• Positions heavy fabricated metal components in fit-up jigs and weld fixtures utilizing overhead cranes.
• Operates robotic and manual weld machines.
• Operates heavy equipment such as skid loaders, bobcats, forklifts, etc.

Requirements

• Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
• Flexibility to work in various manufacturing areas as requested.
• Ability to understand and perform all jobs of personnel being assigned.
• 1 year of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Additional Information

• Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
• Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
• Must be able to see details at close range.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
