Overview
QP Training is seeking an organized, self-motivated Structural Welding Instructor for the Training School. This role involves training and qualifying Welding students under the supervision of the Weld School Supervisor, emphasizing safety and procedure compliance.
Responsibilities
- Willing to travel to support offsite training.
- Instruct multiple Welding related classroom courses including Workmanship, Back to Basics and Safety Briefs.
- Direct and assess hands-on training with practice and tests.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits.
- Assess student performance and identify nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents.
- Support various course content reviews and related activities.
- Conduct assessments as scheduled.
- Meet with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as needed.
- Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics.
- Communicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issues.
- Support special training projects as required.
- Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned.
- Support QP’s development and implementation of the Lifting and Handling ALC Active Learning center.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of Welding Trade experience.
- Preferred: Minimum of 3 years of Electric Boat experience.
- Certificate, Associates or advanced degree.
- Prior experience teaching.
- Experience with AWPSS.
- MDD-00948 VT certified.
- Currently qualified for 3 or more welding processes, including mechanized welding.
- Able to qualify for respiratory protection as required.
- Strong ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex tasks and projects.
- Strong ability to lead and direct in a classroom environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to teaching others and leading student classes.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer-service, safety & procedure compliance.
- Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed.
- Willingness and desire to learn and teach new courses and team members with a variety of learning abilities.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility and units to support all areas as required.
Additional Information
- Work schedule is approximately 2nd Shift hours (3:00pm – 11:30pm) with flexibility to adjust hours as necessary.
- Ability to work additional overtime as directed, including weekends.
- Flexible to support short term training assignments on all shifts as needed.
