Overview

Hopkins | Lacy, the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing division of Branch, is searching for a Pipefitter responsible for laying, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, applying knowledge of system operation and following blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment according to specifications.
• Inspect structures to avoid obstructions that may form as a result of the installation of piping.
• Plans installation/repair to avoid interfering with other workers’ activities.
• Install pipes in accordance with regulation guidelines using a variety of hand and power tools.
• Cuts pipe using saw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
• Threads pipe using pipe threading machine.
• Bends pipe using pipe bending tools and pipe bending machine.
• Assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings.
• Connects pipes using threaded, caulker, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
• Secures pipe in structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand and power tools.
• Installs and maintains hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
• Maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems following specifications and blueprints.
• Reads and comprehends pressure gauges and systems.
• Performs inspections after installation to check for leaks.
• May perform occasional welding.
• Gathers, collates, and classifies information.

Requirements

• Execute work-place safety regulations.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 4 years of prior related experience.
• Driver’s License.
• Travel is frequently required to and from job site locations.

Additional Information

• This is a full-time position which typically requires 40 hours per week.
• Employee is frequently exposed to various indoor/outdoor climate conditions and temperatures.
• Noise level exceeding 85 decibels will require hearing protection.
