Overview
Knox Custom Fabrication is a high-end custom metalwork shop based in North Salt Lake, UT, specializing in architectural steel fabrication for luxury residential and commercial projects. They are looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator & Installer to work on high-end custom projects, primarily staircases and railings, from fabrication through final installation.
Responsibilities
- Perform TIG and MIG welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel.
- Interpret shop drawings and fabricate components to spec.
- De-burr, grind, and finish metal surfaces to achieve proper texture and appearance.
- Verify material sizes and monitor accuracy at setup and completion.
- Operate shop equipment including forklifts, saws, rollers, grinders, and Bridgeport mill.
- Assist with on-site installation of stairs and railings (interior and exterior).
- Communicate with shop lead and team to resolve fabrication or fit-up issues.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year TIG welding experience.
- Minimum 1 year welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Experience welding aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints.
- Solid basic math skills — geometry and layout calculations are part of the job.
- Strong attention to detail and a standard for your own work quality.
- Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced custom shop environment.
- Clear communication in English (written and verbal).
- MIG/Dual Shield experience a plus.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to report to the North Salt Lake, UT shop location.
