Job Description

Overview

The Welder Fabricator Technician at Glanbia Nutritionals Inc. is responsible for the welding and fabrication of thin gauge stainless steel products, including tanks, frames, and sanitary tubing. Glanbia is a leading provider of dairy and non-dairy nutritional ingredients with a global presence in 21 countries.

Responsibilities

  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure for conformance with specifications.
  • Perform welding (Tig/Stick) for new installations of process piping systems using pre-engineered drawings.
  • Produce sanitary type welds, grind and polish as required.
  • Install appropriate hanger systems for existing and new process pipe installations.
  • Dismantle and repair existing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment and facilities.
  • Perform general and preventative maintenance to assure minimal downtime.
  • Maintain proper records, files, and necessary parts and supplies for all plant equipment.
  • Maintain all maintenance logs on assigned shift.
  • Ensure that the department is clean and orderly at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain company tools and equipment properly.
  • Promote and exhibit strong safety practices.
  • Ensure timely and proper completion of work orders.
  • Regular and timely attendance required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate.
  • Technical/Vocational Degree or HS education plus 3-5 years experience with stainless steel GTAW (TIG) welding.
  • Working knowledge of dairy processing equipment and plant facilities.
  • Ability to weld in all positions with good quality.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, pressure gauges, use a level and square.
  • Physical ability to perform assigned job.
  • Self-motivated and willing to accept responsibility.
  • Comprehension of pneumatics, hydraulics, boilers, etc.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements for manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate necessary equipment.
  • Solid understanding of welding equipment and accessories.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications.
  • Maintain welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Excellent record in safety, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Ability and willingness to follow directions and work independently.
  • Ability to read and write instructions in English.
  • Knowledge of the proper use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.
