Overview
The Welder Fabricator Technician at Glanbia Nutritionals Inc. is responsible for the welding and fabrication of thin gauge stainless steel products, including tanks, frames, and sanitary tubing. Glanbia is a leading provider of dairy and non-dairy nutritional ingredients with a global presence in 21 countries.
Responsibilities
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure for conformance with specifications.
- Perform welding (Tig/Stick) for new installations of process piping systems using pre-engineered drawings.
- Produce sanitary type welds, grind and polish as required.
- Install appropriate hanger systems for existing and new process pipe installations.
- Dismantle and repair existing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment and facilities.
- Perform general and preventative maintenance to assure minimal downtime.
- Maintain proper records, files, and necessary parts and supplies for all plant equipment.
- Maintain all maintenance logs on assigned shift.
- Ensure that the department is clean and orderly at the end of the shift.
- Maintain company tools and equipment properly.
- Promote and exhibit strong safety practices.
- Ensure timely and proper completion of work orders.
- Regular and timely attendance required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED certificate.
- Technical/Vocational Degree or HS education plus 3-5 years experience with stainless steel GTAW (TIG) welding.
- Working knowledge of dairy processing equipment and plant facilities.
- Ability to weld in all positions with good quality.
- Ability to read a tape measure, pressure gauges, use a level and square.
- Physical ability to perform assigned job.
- Self-motivated and willing to accept responsibility.
- Comprehension of pneumatics, hydraulics, boilers, etc.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements for manufacturing operations.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate necessary equipment.
- Solid understanding of welding equipment and accessories.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications.
- Maintain welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Excellent record in safety, attendance, and punctuality.
- Ability and willingness to follow directions and work independently.
- Ability to read and write instructions in English.
- Knowledge of the proper use of cleaning chemicals.
- Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.
