Overview

At Cobalt Truck Equipment, we specialize in building and upfitting high-quality work trucks for various industries. The Fabrication Technician position involves custom welding and fabrication, requiring the ability to read CAD drawings and report to the Service Manager under the direction of the Lead Fabricator.

Responsibilities

• Perform GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW welding proficiently or be willing to learn.
• Prepare for fabrication, including cutting and using grinders.
• Engage in fabrication tasks such as design, layout, cutting, and forming.
• Weld to specifications ranging from 10 gauge to 1 inch steel.
• Weld aluminum or be willing to learn.
• Conduct quality control checks on all completed jobs.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently within the given time frame.
• Maintain a clean and organized service bay.
• Read and understand prints to AWS standards.

Requirements

• 3+ years of welding experience.
• 1+ years of custom fabrication experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills for effective teamwork.
• Ability to stay organized and manage tasks and workspace.
• Proficient in mathematics including measurements, fractions, and conversions.
• Proficient in technical skills such as welding and reading CAD/AWS standards.
• Strong attention to detail for accuracy and quality.
• Ability to manage time and complete tasks within deadlines.
• Proficient in measurement tools including tape measures and precision instruments.
• Ability to problem-solve and resolve design or process issues.
• Welding portfolio is preferred but not required.

Additional Information

• This is a full-time position with working hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Proper PPE must be worn at all times.
• The position works in a climate-controlled shop setting.
