Overview
Swarf Unlimited designs and manufactures industrial coolant filtration and fluid management equipment used in high-performance CNC machining environments. We are seeking a motivated Welder’s Assistant to support our precision fabrication team, working directly with lead welders to prep, fit, and finish high-quality carbon and stainless steel assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Support handheld laser welding processes.
- Assist with TIG and MIG welding.
- Prepare parts by cleaning, de-burring, and prepping edges.
- Assist in the setup of sheet metal assemblies and structural weldments.
- Handle raw materials and staged components.
- Finish welds by grinding, polishing, and cleaning.
- Help interpret fabrication prints for proper alignment.
- Maintain a clean workspace and ensure supplies are stocked.
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined with an understanding of metal fitting.
- Attention to detail for perfect fit-up.
- Eager to learn modern fabrication technology, especially laser welding.
- Reliable in a structured production environment.
- Previous experience in a metal shop or manufacturing is a plus.
- Basic experience with grinders, sanders, and hand tools is a plus.
- Exposure to MIG or TIG welding is a plus.
- Ability to read a tape measure and basic blueprints is a plus.
