Overview
Thompson Equipment Maintenance, Inc. is seeking a Welder Fabricator for a full-time position primarily responsible for welding, brazing, fabrication, and other metalwork repairs at their equipment maintenance shop in Goose Creek. The role involves in-house repairs and upkeep of fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding, cutting, brazing work, metal work and repair, and fabrication.
- Assist the senior welder in the repair or fabrication of fleet and heavy equipment.
- Clean and inspect equipment to locate and determine the extent of needed repairs.
- Work from simple drawings and sketches and make sketches of broken parts for replacement.
- Make installation or repairs to special equipment.
- Operate and maintain tools and machinery efficiently.
- Assist Shop Foreman in the selection of parts for equipment.
- Keep simple records and report.
- Assist drivers and operators on a daily basis.
- Keep company work site clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years or older to operate equipment or be a company driver.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather and conditions.
- Must bring and wear personal protective gear daily.
- Must provide and wear own long pants and work rated boots.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Must be able to work some evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Must be able to perform repetitive heavy manual labor.
- Must be safety conscious and aware of surroundings.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and ongoing quarterly testing.
- Must have a valid SC Driver’s License.
- Two years of welding experience or shop experience on varied gas and diesel-powered trucks or heavy construction equipment is preferred.

Additional Information
- Location: Goose Creek shop but may require in field repairs.
- Typical hours may vary but are typically 4:30 am-2:30 pm or 6:00 am - 4:00 pm.
- All new hires will be on a 90-day probation.
