Responsibilities

  • Manually guide welding gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion and bead.
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Apply filler rod manually to supply weld metal.
  • Clean or degrease weld joints or work piece(s).
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
  • Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
  • Chip off excess weld, slag, and splatter.
  • Preheat work piece with hand torch or heating furnace.
  • Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.
  • Tack together assemblies.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or completion certificate from two-year college or trade school, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Current DOT physical.
  • 6+ months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and/or CDL-required vehicle.
  • Must pass computer-based testing specific to the local Customer’s operator.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
