Overview

The Welder Lead A supervises hourly welders to ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards while adhering to production schedules. This role involves working under the direction of plant management to optimize operations in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the activities of hourly welders on daily assignments.
  • Complete time entry of hourly workers daily.
  • Monitor job activity of hourly workers, providing guidance and resolving issues.
  • Assist management in determining work procedures, equipment, supply needs, and manpower requirements.
  • Select, supervise, instruct, and schedule employee work.
  • Monitor work processes and products to maintain quality and cost containment standards.
  • Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and security of company equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations by all employees.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of plant operations with emphasis on welding techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work objectives.
  • Ability to effectively plan work procedures, equipment, material, and manpower needs.
  • Ability to build and lead a productive work group and function as part of a management team.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations related to safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 4 years of demonstrated experience as a Welder.
