Overview
The Senior Test Tank Welding Lead at BAC is responsible for ensuring coil integrity on the test tank floor, leading by example in testing and repairing coils, and mentoring mechanics. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement while embodying BAC's values of trust, responsibility, courage, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead safety huddles and reinforce PPE and safe work practices.
- Organize daily work flow for completed coils.
- Pressure-test coils and repair leaks.
- Update daily metrics on leak rates and coil quality.
- Log coil proficiency and actions taken for learning.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve discrepancies.
- Complete daily ISO documentation and maintain a clean test area.
- Mentor junior mechanics and coach on process improvements.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects.
- Champion sustainability efforts in the workplace.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year in BAC’s coil department preferred.
- Clear communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Proven initiative and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to lead small groups and mentor others.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong knowledge of coil and assembly processes.
- Working knowledge of welding symbols and ability to read technical drawings.
- Comfort with basic math and measuring tools.
- Proficient in oxy-fuel and plasma arc burning.
- Certified to operate overhead crane and jib boom.
Additional Information
- Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs and standing for up to 80% of the time.
- Working hours can include any of three shifts, generally scheduled for forty hours a week with some weekend overtime.
