Overview
The Welder II position involves various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture products according to customer specifications. The role requires adherence to company core values and active participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Welding of tanks and components from mechanical drawings, blueprints, and written specifications.
- Interpretation of weld requirements.
- Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials.
- Holding weld quality to set criteria, checked by x-ray and penetrant inspection.
- Holding dimensional tolerances per blueprints.
- Working knowledge of fixturing and weld setups.
- Using conventional and precision measuring instruments.
- Process inspection, certification, and documentation.
- Welding equipment maintenance.
- Adhering to ISO 9001 requirements and maintaining procedures and work instructions.
- Active participation in 6s, lean initiatives, and continual improvement programs.
- Proficient in welding stainless and aluminum, including fusion welding, spot welding, and brazing.
Requirements
- Proficient in assigned welding techniques, specifically TIG welding for stainless and aluminum fabrication.
- Formal welding training through vocational school or apprenticeship program.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and staff.
