Overview
Since 1957, LPI Corporation has manufactured products for jet engines, aircraft components, and other aerospace & defense applications. The Welder position involves using hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components and requires extensive experience with GTAW welding techniques.
Responsibilities
- Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components.
- Fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.
- Operate manual GTAW (TIG) machines and perform maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Utilize semi-automatic GTAW welding equipment.
- Weld sheet metal in various positions including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
- Inspect completed work for defects to comply with specifications.
- Perform layout operations and develop fixtures for welding.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools.
- Utilize standard shop hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Monitor fitting, heating, and welding procedures to prevent defects.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years welding experience performing GTAW on aerospace materials.
- Preference for NADCAP certification for aerospace welding.
- Experience with AWS D17.1 specifications for fusion welding for aerospace applications.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Basic shop math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Familiarity with field concepts, practices, and procedures.
