Overview

The Millwright is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery and mechanical equipment within a food manufacturing environment. This role works closely with Maintenance Technicians to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support efficient production operations.

Responsibilities

• Install, align, and dismantle industrial machinery and production equipment
• Work collaboratively with Maintenance Technicians to diagnose mechanical issues and implement timely repairs
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on conveyors, packaging machines, motors, gearboxes, and other production equipment
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to complete installations and repairs
• Troubleshoot mechanical failures and determine root causes
• Fabricate or modify parts as needed using hand and power tools
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety, food safety, and GMP standards
• Assist in equipment upgrades, line changes, and new installations
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or apprenticeship preferred
• Proven experience as a Millwright or Industrial Mechanic in a manufacturing environment (food industry preferred)
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Basic understanding of electrical systems
• Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills (especially with Maintenance Technicians)
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment

Additional Information

• Manufacturing/production environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• May require overtime, weekends, or shift work
