Overview
This role involves hands-on fabrication of large, custom industrial and data center enclosures, focusing on precision layout, MIG welding, and assembly from detailed mechanical blueprints. The position emphasizes craftsmanship and offers opportunities for significant overtime in a growing manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Review mechanical blueprints and plan layout.
- Measure with tape, calipers, and micrometers before cutting and fitting components.
- MIG weld sheet metal and structural steel to exacting standards.
- Assemble large enclosure sections, ensuring structural integrity.
- Operate saws, drills, grinders, and other power tools.
- Safely handle material with overhead cranes or forklifts.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on fabrication or welding experience (5+ years preferred).
- Strong MIG welding background in a custom fabrication setting.
- Proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints.
- Experience fabricating and measuring to tolerance.
- Comfort with common fabrication tools and equipment.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including overtime and occasional Saturdays.
Additional Information
- Location: Itasca, IL
- Pay: $22–$30/hour
- Schedule: Standard 6:00 AM–2:30 PM; often adjusted to 5:00 AM–4:30 PM (Monday–Friday)
- Overtime: 20+ hours per week when fully ramped up
- Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 months)
