Overview
Tank Connection, established in 2003 and now a 100% employee-owned company, is the international leader in bolted storage tanks, emphasizing superior customer service and excellence. The Welder position involves performing various welding processes with minimal instruction to fabricate parts and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of welding processes and methods to weld all types of metals.
- Complete fit-up of accessories and tanks.
- Identify various metals and alloys such as mild steel, aluminum, and stainless.
- Use measuring devices and gauges to determine thickness and size of metal.
- Use an oxygen/acetylene torch for cutting metals.
- Use a grinder and other hand or power tools to grind, bevel, or fit metals together.
- Read and follow blueprints to determine structure or fit of parts being welded.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow safety procedures.
Requirements
- Proficient knowledge of welding procedures, practices, symbols, and techniques.
- Ability to use hand and power tools associated with welding.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and/or sketches.
- Knowledge of common measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work.
- Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships.
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet deadlines.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Certification from a trade or welding institute is preferred.
- Must demonstrate welding competency through testing and perform various welds in multiple positions.
