Overview
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a subsidiary of The Boeing Company, focusing on the design and manufacture of commercial aerostructures. The position involves various welding processes to fabricate tools and components for the aerospace industry.
Responsibilities
- Plan, estimate, sequence, and perform tasks in the weld shop.
- Fabricate, weld, assemble, maintain, inspect, and repair tools.
- Use processes such as cutting, grinding, and welding on various materials.
- Coordinate and plan work with other employees.
- Interpret tool and engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Perform various welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and others.
- Ensure all welds meet visual and functional standards.
- Maintain required AWS certifications and read applicable weld symbols.
- Perform basic shop math and routine minor machine maintenance.
Requirements
- Must be willing and able to work any shift.
- Pass the WorkKeys Assessment.
- TIG welding experience with Aluminum, Stainless alloys, titanium, and Inconel.
- Production aircraft welding experience preferred.
- Precision fabrication with metals.
- Familiar with AWS D17.1.
- Ability to follow engineering drawings and weld symbols.
