Overview
The Instructor, Welding position at Western Nevada College involves teaching full-time in-person at a college or high school campus. This is an academic faculty contract role with benefits eligibility, and the appointment is initially through an emergency appointment pending additional recruitment requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach 15 equated load hours per semester, including material and preparation time.
- Design standards-based instructional content and delivery systems, including online instruction.
- Develop and grade assignments, projects, and exams to evaluate student learning and progress.
- Maintain accurate attendance rosters and submit student grades as required.
- Deliver courses at all program levels.
- Ensure safe operation and usage of all program-related equipment and supplies.
- Maintain a minimum of 5 office hours per week per semester.
- Participate in meetings and activities that support student achievement and faculty collaboration.
- Incorporate pedagogical strategies that promote student engagement and success.
- Assist with promotion through open houses, school visits, and development of promotional materials.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent in Welding or a related area.
- American Welding Society certification in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
- Three years of welding experience, including fabrication and seismic zone welding.
- Experience teaching, preferably in a community college setting.
- Knowledge and experience working with industry partners.
- Ability to use industry-relevant technology.
- Effective communication skills with students and faculty.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and vocational curriculum.
- Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum and assessment.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
