Job Description

Overview

The Instructor, Welding position at Western Nevada College involves teaching full-time in-person at a college or high school campus. This is an academic faculty contract role with benefits eligibility, and the appointment is initially through an emergency appointment pending additional recruitment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 15 equated load hours per semester, including material and preparation time.
  • Design standards-based instructional content and delivery systems, including online instruction.
  • Develop and grade assignments, projects, and exams to evaluate student learning and progress.
  • Maintain accurate attendance rosters and submit student grades as required.
  • Deliver courses at all program levels.
  • Ensure safe operation and usage of all program-related equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain a minimum of 5 office hours per week per semester.
  • Participate in meetings and activities that support student achievement and faculty collaboration.
  • Incorporate pedagogical strategies that promote student engagement and success.
  • Assist with promotion through open houses, school visits, and development of promotional materials.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Welding or a related area.
  • American Welding Society certification in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
  • Three years of welding experience, including fabrication and seismic zone welding.
  • Experience teaching, preferably in a community college setting.
  • Knowledge and experience working with industry partners.
  • Ability to use industry-relevant technology.
  • Effective communication skills with students and faculty.
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and vocational curriculum.
  • Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum and assessment.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
