Overview

Ohmstede Ltd. is a leading provider of industrial solutions specializing in custom shell and tube heat transfer equipment. The company is seeking a candidate to fit and tack shell and tube heat exchanger components and assemblies for fabrication by welders, requiring a strong understanding of metal fabrication practices.

Responsibilities

• Lay-out, fit-up, burn, arc gouge, plasma cut, grind and weld components to meet required finish dimensions.
• Prepare cutouts to meet drawing weld bevel requirements and standards.
• Grind weld material left by knock-offs to clean the part to standards.
• Set up and perform jobs based on engineering drawings, shop practices, and procedures.
• Perform internal quality checks using appropriate measuring gauges.
• Perform assigned tasks safely, following EHS requirements relating to PPE and Safe Working Practices.

Requirements

• H.S. diploma or equivalent; or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of fitting/welding procedures.
• Ability to read and write in English to understand weld procedures and fabrication drawings.
• Must be able to pass ASME welding test.
• Understanding of algebra and geometry.
• Heat exchanger job shop or field fabrication experience preferred.
