Overview
The After Dark Vocational Teacher for Welding & Metal Fabrication is responsible for teaching students vocational skills in a structured educational framework, aiming to develop their maturity and responsibility. Reporting to the Director of Grants and Workforce Development, the teacher will create a conducive learning environment and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
Responsibilities
- Teaches district approved curriculum and prepares lesson plans.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated times and locations.
- Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Encourages students to maintain standards of behavior and work ethic.
- Guides learning processes toward curriculum goals and communicates objectives to students.
- Ensures compliance with organizational standards.
- Keeps records and prepares progress reports.
- Stays current in discipline and teaching techniques.
- Participates in professional development.
- Leads collaboration with paraprofessional to ensure accessibility for all students.
- Supervises the classroom and students.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; college degree and prior teaching experience preferred.
- Five years of recent full-time employment experience in vocational teaching area preferred.
- Valid Massachusetts Chapter 74 Teaching License in vocational education or working to obtain it.
- State issued driver's license preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documents.
- Ability to write reports and prepare lesson plans.
- Ability to present information effectively to various audiences.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
