Overview
Essex North Shore is seeking a Metal Fabrication and Joining Technologies Teacher to join its Chapter 74 approved program for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates should be experienced in both metal and sheet metal fabrication, welding, CNC machinery operation, and blueprint interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Map each grade curriculum to the State Frameworks.
- Provide instruction in the content in accordance with the Massachusetts Vocational-Technical Frameworks in the specified career area.
- Enforce all OSHA safety regulations within the career education setting.
- Instruct students in the field when participating in outside projects.
- Document student performance, student behavior, and student achievement within the career education setting.
- Provide review and reinforcement of new concepts; support students in the completion of their assigned tasks.
- Demonstrate knowledge of students’ IEPs, as well as the accommodations and modifications necessary for student success.
- Develop resources for students to be successful, such as models, graphic organizers, and copies of class notes, video clips, demonstrations, etc.
- Participate as a member of the career area department; collaborate with teachers within the department.
- Collaborate with teachers in academic disciplines to facilitate learning activities that are cross-curricular and project-based.
- Collaborate with the Cooperative Education Coordinator to place students in their career area.
- Maintain documentation, including student performance, behavior, progress data, notation of student absences/tardies, and conversations with parents and administrators.
- Provide content support outside of the general education classroom, as necessary.
- Integrate technology into the curriculum.
- Respond to any correspondence, both oral and written, that comes from a parent or guardian.
- Participate in conferences and meetings when appropriate; contribute observations and ideas.
- Attend Advisory Board meetings twice per year; attend Open House.
- Keep current with changes in your career area; collaborate with Advisory Board members.
- Accept additional responsibilities as may be required under the direction of the Coordinator of Career Technical & Agricultural Education.
Requirements
- Candidates should be licensed or licensable by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Construction OSHA 30 certification within three years of hire.
- OSHA Train the Trainer within five years of hire.
- Satisfactory CORI, SAFIS, and SORI.
- Bilingual preferred.
