Overview

The Roll Operator A is responsible for operating roll machines and manual welding equipment, ensuring quality and safety standards are met while maintaining effective teamwork in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Use shop order to clock in and out on each job.
• Operate the roll machine by selecting required settings based on material type and size.
• Operate manual welding equipment for long seam welding.
• May operate flame cutting equipment or plasma cutter.
• Notify supervisor of any quality or safety issues.
• Maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and function as a team member.
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Work in other departments on an as-needed basis.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with one year of trades training and at least one year of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as bills of material, blueprints, and safety rules.
• Demonstrate the ability to read and understand a tape measure.
• Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with other employees.
• Ability to perform basic calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
• Good mechanical ability and basic calculations to operate roll forming machines.
• Ability to operate a welder, grinder, overhead crane, torch, measuring devices, and a variety of hand and power tools.
• Prior work record indicating dependability and conscientiousness.
• Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment.
