Overview

Welcome to Ryerson, a leading provider of industrial metal products and services since 1842. As a Welder at Norlen, a Ryerson family of companies, you will apply welding and fabricating processes to metal while ensuring quality and customer standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Apply appropriate welding and assembling applications in a fabrication environment.
  • Process metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Work according to layouts, work orders, and blueprints using MIG and TIG welding equipment.
  • Lay out and mark weld points on parts or sub-assemblies.
  • Position pieces to be welded into jigs and fixtures using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
  • Observe all standard safety practices and maintain required records.
  • Work safely using prescribed safety equipment including PPE.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a steel or industrial manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Extensive MIG welding experience; TIG welding experience preferred.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.
  • Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility.
  • Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding.

Additional Information

  • Hours: 2nd shift 3pm to 1am Monday to Thursday.
