Overview

Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) is seeking a highly skilled and innovative adjunct instructor for the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program in Lakewood, WA. The role involves building a supportive environment for adult learners and teaching various laboratory subjects to prepare students for a career as a Medical Laboratory Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom and lab instruction utilizing a variety of teaching techniques.
  • Create, implement, and modify curriculum to meet learning outcomes.
  • Maintain and manage classroom environment, equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of professionalism and mutual respect with students.
  • Utilize online learning management system and incorporate multiple modalities into curriculum planning.
  • Maintain a safe environment through instruction and continuous evaluation of program equipment and laboratory space.
  • Provide career guidance and job placement assistance.
  • Assess and provide feedback on student competencies as established by industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate student progress records and submit grades in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate teaching and clinical education.
  • Supervise applied laboratory learning experience.
  • Actively participate on college committees and shared governance.
  • Promote the program and college.
  • Conduct program information sessions and attend major college events.
  • Responsible for organization, instruction, evaluation, and program development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with the ability to obtain a master's or doctoral degree within 3 years of hire.
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology - Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
  • Three years' teaching experience, with 1 year of bench work substitutable for each year of teaching experience.
  • Experience in educational methods and administration as well as current NAACLSS accreditation procedures.
  • Minimum of thirty-six hours of continuing education in the past three years.
  • Ability to contribute to the college's commitment to diversity.
