Overview

Howmet Aerospace is a leader in investment casting for jet aircraft and industrial gas turbine markets. They are seeking Tool Makers to join their Industrial Gas Turbine group in Hampton, Virginia, to manufacture high-tech products safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow work instructions.
  • Record data manually or by computer as required.
  • Study specifications to determine materials and machines needed for fabrication.
  • Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly methods and sequences.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining.
  • Set up and operate machine tools to machine parts and verify conformance to specifications.
  • Lift and position machined parts on surface plates or worktables.
  • Smooth surfaces and fit parts together into assemblies.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
  • Heat-treat tools or parts.
  • Examine and recommend design modifications for dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Develop specifications for specialty tools and create design sketches.
  • Comply with attendance policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Resume and two professional references are required.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Minimum of five years of toolmaker and CNC programming experience and/or training.
  • Must be available for all shifts and able to work overtime and weekends.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to setup, program, and operate CNC machines.
  • Ability to create CAD models and drawings for CAM software.

Additional Information

  • 1st shift hours: M-F 7am-3pm; 2nd shift hours: M-F 3pm-11pm.
  • Training is during 1st shift.
  • New Hire Starting Rate: $28.68 per hour; After 6 months: $31.86 per hour.
  • Hourly shift premium of $1.00 per hour for off shifts.
