Job Description
Overview
The Pipefitter position is located in the Engineering Service at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. The role involves making safety and preventive maintenance inspections and repairs of utility systems and equipment in accordance with VA regulations and National Codes, as well as working with various types of piping systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding repairs and fabrication using oxygen, acetylene, arc welding, and pipe welding.
- Inspect, adjust, clean, and repair plumbing fixtures and systems.
- Maintain steam operated equipment, heating and water systems, kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Service air compressors, medical compressed air systems, vacuum systems, oxygen systems, and natural gas distribution systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints and manufacturers' specifications for equipment installation and repair.
- Conduct safety and preventive maintenance inspections of utility systems and equipment.
- Test systems and equipment after completing work.
