Job Description
Overview
The Pipefitter position is located in Engineering Service at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. The role involves making safety and preventive maintenance inspections and repairs of utility systems and equipment in accordance with VA regulations and National Codes.
Responsibilities
- Make safety and preventive maintenance inspections and repairs of utility systems and equipment.
- Perform welding repairs and fabrication using oxygen, acetylene, arc welding, and pipe welding.
- Inspect, adjust, clean, and repair plumbing fixtures and systems.
- Inspect, adjust, clean, and repair steam operated equipment, heating and water systems, kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Inspect, adjust, clean, and repair air compressors, medical compressed air systems, vacuum systems, oxygen systems, and natural gas distribution systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints and manufacturers' specifications for installing and repairing equipment.
- Test systems and equipment after completing work.
