Overview

The Aircraft and Equipment Operations (AEO) work unit located at Mission, Texas, is responsible for providing aircraft, equipment, and related services to support research and development, aerial application programs, aerial surveying, and distribution of sterile insects and/or bio-control agents for agricultural pest control programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with fabricating specialized equipment under the direction of a higher graded sheet metal mechanic.
• Operate and maintain sheet metal cutting and forming machines, boring machines, punching machines, hand shears, and hand files as instructed.
• Assist in assembling equipment items and joining sheet metal parts through soldering, welding, spot welding, riveting, and locking seams.
• Rough cut parts from solid metal, plastic, or wood materials as instructed.
• Assist in building jigs and templates for uniform assembly of parts.
• Occasionally travel to pick up parts and supplies for AEO activities.
• Retrieve, clean, and replace precision measuring devices to assist higher graded employees.
