Overview
The Pipefitter position at the Central Alabama Veterans' Health Care System involves maintenance, repair, and modification of utilities distribution systems and building service equipment across multiple campuses. The role requires a range of skills in pipefitting, welding, plumbing, and general maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform the full range of tasks associated with journeyman level pipe fitting.
- Install, modify, repair, clean, adjust, and maintain high pressure piping systems and equipment.
- Repair and replace system components including piping, pumps, valves, and fittings.
- Perform welding operations using electric resistance and oxyacetylene processes.
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures and systems including water mains and sewage lines.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on various mechanical equipment.
Requirements
- Must have use of all limbs and be able to stand, stoop, bend, climb, and lift heavy objects.
- Ability to work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods.
- Experience working from ladders, scaffolding, and platoons.
- Ability to identify different light indicators and wire colors.
