Overview

The Pipefitter Leader is responsible for leading a team of pipefitters and maintenance mechanics, making independent decisions within the scope of their role. They work under the supervision of a Pipefitter Shop Supervisor, coordinating work assignments and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of eight or more employees in the Pipefitter Shop.
• Advise Engineering Technicians, Engineers, and Shop Supervisors on pipe-fitting matters.
• Track compliance with the Legionella Preventive Maintenance Program.
• Coordinate purchasing efforts and hire personnel for minor projects.
• Assign work and set priorities for shop employees.
• Maintain stock levels of parts and supplies for operations.
• Spot check work for quality and compliance with standards.
• Prepare schedules and submit for approval to the Shop Supervisor.
• Provide updates on shop performance to management.
• Manage timekeeping and recommend personnel actions.
• Assist in writing accident reports and performance evaluations.
• Ensure accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and repairs.
• Operate a motor vehicle for transportation to work sites.
