Overview
The Pipefitter Leader is responsible for leading a team of pipefitters and maintenance mechanics, making independent decisions within the scope of their role. They work under the supervision of a Pipefitter Shop Supervisor, coordinating work assignments and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of eight or more employees in the Pipefitter Shop.
- Advise Engineering Technicians, Engineers, and Shop Supervisors on pipe-fitting matters.
- Track compliance with the Legionella Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Coordinate purchasing efforts and hire personnel for minor projects.
- Assign work and set priorities for shop employees.
- Maintain stock levels of parts and supplies for operations.
- Spot check work for quality and compliance with standards.
- Prepare schedules and submit for approval to the Shop Supervisor.
- Provide updates on shop performance to management.
- Manage timekeeping and recommend personnel actions.
- Assist in writing accident reports and performance evaluations.
- Ensure accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and repairs.
- Operate a motor vehicle for transportation to work sites.
